Little Rose

Today was Rosie's follow up appointment from her little stint in the hospital on Monday...  And that saying, "If its not one thing, its another...." Ugh.  It's ringing true.  Our sweet little Rosie is indeed very, very little.
At 6 months she weighs 10.5 pounds and hasn't gained an ounce since February 14th (her last well child check).  So while I thought today was a follow up, (and it was- her lungs sound good) it was also a step in a new direction...
Why isn't Rosie gaining weight?  I flat out asked the doctor if she had dwarfism (she's THAT small).  The doctor said not likely because her limbs were proportionate.  But she has a protruding abdomen which makes her limbs look disproportionate.

So we drew blood.  And now we wait, again.

At 6 months Rosie is:
  • eating about 4-6 ounces every 3-4 hours
  • eating solids  (fruits & veggies)
  • rolling
  • smiling, cooing, etc.
  • wearing newborn diapers
  • 0-3 month clothes
  • loves her paci
  • has filled into her name with perfection... she's as sweet as a Rose.
A year ago she was a bump.  This massive fury of life inside of me, making me barf all day.  My focus was on Maeve, Henry and Stella.  My mind couldn't wrap itself around another baby.  And then October 1st happened, and as it always does, that baby who you've never met, comes out and that's that.  She's here and life will never be okay without her existing in it.  Being a mother is such a whirlwind.  Feelings are deeper, love is fiercer.  And that's all well and perfect.  But it that also means the hurts are stronger, the downs, lower.

It's been a really rough couple of weeks.  My eyes just want to close.  So, so drained.

But that's the other awesome thing about moms.  When we're completely tapped, we have the ability to weather the drought.  We wait for the clouds to open up, for  His mercy to pour out.

I'm standing.

Have a good weekend guys ;)
