HORRIBLE Appointment.

I'm not going to go much into details but I saw the actual doctor today- not the midwives. Normally my appts. with midwives are nice and pleasant, filled with lots of talking. Today, I actually heard my doctor arguing (like MAJOR arguing) with a nurse before he came into my room- it was SO awkward. He came in and before I could even say "how are you?" he had me up on the table measuring me. I had a few important questions I wanted to ask him because like I said, I only see the actual doctor once or twice throughout the pregnancy and this was one of those "special" days. I was literally talking a mile a minute trying to get out all my questions as he's squeezing my stomach, measuring and taking the heartbeat. I was not pleased. He looked at my weight gain (which is a major concern of mine) and said it looks okay- not to get worried about it at this point "just keep an eye on it." Yikes. He added up how much weight I've gained so far- and at 26 weeks, I have gained a whopping 30 lbs. HOLY CRAP. That means in the past month I put on about 8 lbs! I knew it was bad- but not this bad...

After a quick "you're doing great kiddo" he was out of the room. And I was left, with not many answers and even more questions... I HATE those kinds of appointments.

Yup after reading that I would bet money that it was Dr. Pastoriza...I remember coming in a couple of times too and hearing him yell at his nurse or front desk people. So weird because he's usually so nice! Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience, but glad to hear the you and the baby are doing well. Don't worry about the weight either you're doing a great job!

That seems crazy that Dr. Pastoriza was yelling at one of the nurses! What was he yelling about? Before I decided to switch to U of M, I was going to Dr. P's office for my prenatal care. I just thought it was kind of strange that at 28 weeks, I STILL hadn't been seen by the doctor. I would have been annoyed too if what happened to you happened to me. I always have a lot of questions and I expect and appreciate thorough answers. Which midwife do you like to see? I didn't care for Laura, so I always saw Tracy. Anyways, better luck next time! Geesh!

yes Shelby- he did the SAME thing when I was in labor! We have it on video (in the back ground of course) you can hear him and the nurse arguing- IN MY ROOM as I was pushing! I actually was going to switch docs after that b/c I thought that was so inappropriate but like you said, he has always been really nice to me. So I stuck with him... ugh.

Jess- I see both midwives, I actually teach Laura's daughter so I see her ALL the time at the studio. So you go to U of M??? Are you delivering there? I almost switched to U of M because of the stupid heart/anxiety thing I have and they're so much better w/ meds during pregnancy. But I didn't... blah

Well, I delivered Jordan at U of M because we lived there at the time. I had a really good experience. This entire pregnancy Mike and I were going back and forth about going there again and at about 28 weeks, I decided to make the switch. Nothing against Allegiance and Dr. Pastoriza, because I've heard really good things about him, I just felt comfortable going to U of M the first time around so I wanted to do it again. BUT, the drive for my visits is no fun and I'm very worried about the hour drive to the hospital if my labor progresses quickly...YIKES!

That sucks!!! I LOVE my doc, he is so wonderful so that really bums me out to hear about yours! YUCK. Don't stress about the weight gain, just don't. Things slow down in the end a bit so no worries :) You will lose it, I guarantee it! My lil sis gained 60 lbs and look her her now ;)
