My "Deceptively Delicious" meal worked! But it took a TON of effort and cost a pretty penny... was it worth it? Of course! I am going to fall asleep tonight knowing instead of fat packed mac & cheese, we ate cauliflower packed pasta and spinach & carrot brownies. Our bellies are full and our bodies are happier! So yes, I will continue "deceiving" Ryan & Maeve :)
The brownies were a bit difficult to make- like it was some serious baking- no boxed stuff here. AND I had to use some home ec. skills- separating egg whites! I actually did pretty good. Anyways how did everything turn out? Fabulous!
The delicious Mac & Cheese
The mac & cheese was a hit with everyone- you could taste a FAINT hint of cauliflower- but hardly... I think it was because I was looking for it, ya know? The brownies however, will only be eaten by Maeve and I. Ryan isn't a big sweets fan anyways and the thought of spinach and carrots in the brownies freaked him out a little! Also, the texture of the brownies is more like fudge- whether that was a baking mistake on my part, or thats just how these spinach/carrot brownies taste is unkown to me. The good news? They taste like chocolate, have 120 calories per bar and contain a days worth of vit. A and calcium.Alright... it is beyond time to put Maeve to bed- goodnight all!
