Sunday Driving.

This past Friday (as in 2 days ago), the kids and I went up to The Avenues (a giant mall) to hit up the Disney store.  I had merchandise credit from Christmas that was about to expire, and with the rain it seemed like a good day to use it.

On the drive up, I spotted a rest stop completely blanketed in yellow flowers.  My jaw dropped and I made a mental note, "MUST GO THERE."

If you live in Florida, you know its been a monsoon for the past week.  This morning however, we had a break in the rain and I couldn't resist.  I dressed the kids up "country-cute" and packed a picnic lunch.  I was thinking the rest stop was just a few miles up from our exit.  Instead it was about a mile from the mall exit.  Needless to say, it was a long drive... but soooo worth it :)

Arriving at the rest stop, the kids were a little confused.  Maeve asked, "What's this place called?  Is it a park?"

Not quite.  But as soon as we let them go, they ran non-stop for about 45 minutes.

We spread a picnic blanket in the middle of the field with munchies that the kids came back and forth to.

It was a great morning.

Lots of dancing, running, singing (check out the ring around the rosy pic), and Stella took her FIRST STEP (which I just happened to catch on film)!!!!!

Post rest stop, we decided to take the long way home... exiting off the highway and driving through the "country" parts of Florida felt awesome.  We came across a Starbucks and took a little potty break.  As if fate brought us there, I found in my wallet a $10.00 Starbucks gift card from Christmas (isn't that the best?  Finding "money" you didn't know you had??)  I got a frap.  The kids got mini scones and with my window rolled down and feet hanging out, we drove home listening to "A Fine Frenzy."

Seriously.  Flipping amazing morning.
