we did it. all of us.

I've been encouraged by every health professional I've seen over the past month or so to GET THE H1N1 vaccination- for me and my family (anyone who will be in the house with the baby). I kept putting it off and putting it off- until everyone in Jackson county started coming down with the swine flu! Now my little brother has it, and that's just a *little* too close to home for me! I spent last night talking with Ryan, praying and panicking (yes-panicking). I woke up this morning with a totally new perspective on the whole thing. I AM a vaccinating mom- Maeve has all her shots and I plan on doing the same with this baby. So why would the swine flu vaccine be any different? I know its new, but again, I've been told by all my doctors (and Maeves) that its just the flu vaccine with the H1N1 IN it. And I'm totally comfortable with our family getting the regular flu vaccine, therefore, I should be fine with the swine flu vax. That isn't to say it wasn't tough walking through the doors, holding Maeve down and watching them inject her. And I couldn't help but notice the kicking buddy in my belly when it was my turn. But I think the thing that really matters is that this decision feels right for me and my family.

Ashley-It is YOUR family and YOUR choice. Don't let anyone make you feel that you made the wrong decision. Everyone has their own reasons for getting the vaccine or not.

I need to return your pie plate..I would love to get together soon. :)

In the first grade across the hall....16...yes, SIXTEEN, kids were absent today. The teacher had just 5 kids here--all due to the swine flu. Umm, scary.
You made a good call, girl!

Good decision..do what's best for you guys. I was VERY against it until about the past week and now I think we may do it. I'm FREAKING out because we're in WV and Lincoln is with my mom/sisters in Kzoo. Well...ALL the Kzoo/Battle Creek schools are closed because of the Swine flu outbreak and now my little sister is sick as of this morning. I feel so bad because I can't just go get Lincoln, praying he doesn't get it!! We haven't even had the opportunity to get it or not...

By the way, the party looks great! Cute decorations too!

shelby- I was the SAME way!!! I really wasn't going to get it for me or Maeve but the flu just started getting out of control!!!! And when I took Maeve to her 2 yr. appt. her doc (who will also be the newborns) said that a newborn just can't handle such an aggressive flu- so if I got the vax. I create antibodies that protect him... and then on top of that Maeve & Ryan got it so we should be okay... praying anyways! :) Good luck w/ Lincoln- I heard all the schools in that area are closed- Jax. schools are closing too... super scary!!

You are 100% right... what matters is that YOU are comfortable with your decision and that YOU (and Ryan, of course) feel that it is the right decision for your family. :) I'm glad you are at peace with it and aren't stressed anymore!
