Sore Bum :(

Maeve is going to be 18 months on the 11th (OMG!) and in her 18 months of life, never- not once has she had bad diaper rash. Once in awhile her hiney gets a little red but destin always does the trick. Earlier this afternoon, before her nap, I noticed she was definitely cutting her bottom teeth (I had THOUGHT she was, but now you can see them poking through, so I definitely know she is). Normally when she is teething its HELL- she doesn't sleep, she runs a low fever, gets a runny nose, is super cranky, etc. etc. etc. BUT never a diaper rash- and almost every mom I've talked to has told me how bad their baby's diaper rash would get during teething. Now I know what they're talking about...

MaeMae woke up from her nap today feeling fine- she was wet so I changed her and noticed her bottom was a bit pink- but not too bad. I put a bit of destin on it and she seemed good to go. About a half hour later she had a poo poo, so I changed her again- it was diarrhea and her poor booty was beat red and BLEEDING! How the heck did that go from pinkish to bleeding in a half hour???? Of course as I was wiping her she was in complete misery- and she was squeezing her butt together so tight I couldn't even really get her clean. So I thought maybe a warm bath might feel good- WRONG- I am pretty sure I traumatized her. I stood her in the bath, she sat down and looked at me and let out one of those really long, silent screams that eventually turns into an ear shattering howl. It was horrible! So I picked her up sopping wet and we went back to the changing table... I eventually bent her knees up to her tummy so I could get the destin on. She seems to be doing better now- but you can clearly tell that she's just not feeling up to par. Poor doll :(
