Who's The Messiest Girl On The Block?

Maeve is! We decided to try and forgo baby food for tonight simply because the kid is going to be a year old next month (holllly cow!) and we're sick of buying those wayyy overly priced two packs of baby mush. So we cooked a "baby friendly" meal and hoped for the best. We made her a piece of french toast, some eggs with cheese and cut up plumbs. She had a blast, but we're pretty positive that 99 percent of the food ended up either ON her or on the floor. Take a look for yourself...

Anyways, I was a bit worried that she didn't eat anything so I ended up giving her some oatmeal and apricot baby food... she ate all of it. But anyone have some tips on weaning the babe OFF of baby food and onto real people food??? I guess my fear is, that she isn't getting enough of the table food (because she plays with it and throws it on the floor, etc.) and when I give her a thing of baby food I can SEE that she eats the whole container. Hmmm... what to do? I am sooooooo over buying baby foooooooooood!!!!!!!!!!

You're such a good momma. :) I was the SAME way with Riley, so paranoid that she wasn't getting enough. I did the same thing you'd do, I probably over stuffed my poor child! But, after I had introduced Ri to "real" food for a while, I just stopped giving her baby food (around 10 months) and I thought that if it wasn't an option she'd HAVE to eat "real" food...she'll let you know if she's still hungry :). Good luck, you're doing great!!

I agree with the paulk's comment... if she doesn't have an option, she will eat what she's given when she's given it. She'll figure it out quickly, and will surely love real food much more than the expensive mush! LOL! I'd try giving her an extra snack a day if you are afraid she's not eating enough... if you give her lunch and are afraid she didn't eat much, give her a snack (banana etc.) a few hours later. Eventually she'll realize that food isn't to play with.

Good luck!

i was always afraid Kerith wasn't getting enough either but they do! i started feeding her solids and supplementing with baby food and slowly took away the baby food. she liked to feed herself anyway so that helped. she'll get it :)
