Friday night we headed downtown for pizza. There was a fun buzz in the air, as there often is in Saint Augustine on weekends. For us though, the buzz-o-fun was due to family gathered together which is rare and so valued.
This week, we had Auntie Em and Uncle Ty (or Tartar) here to visit. (and we miss our auntie Meg SOOOO MUCH!)
To my kids, their aunts and uncles are rock stars. It's adorable to watch, and love grows in new places for my siblings. Whereas I used to (and still do) love Emily for her emo-ness and super good taste in music (haaa!) there's a whole new angle to our relationship. I look at her with my kids and she glows, which tugs at every heart string I have. The same goes with Uncle Ty, as he gives the kids wheelies in their strollers or takes pictures of them to show off to his friends.

We ate twisty bread sticks dipped in butter, walked the lit up streets of old Saint Augustine and ended our night with a trip to Kilwins.
There is little else in this world that can make me drool like the smell wafting from Kilwins. I'm drawn in, like a mosquito to light, every.single.time.
Saturday morning we took some time to relax. Stella does a fabulous job with this, as demonstrated in the picture below:
Saturday afternoon Maeve and I went on a haircutting date. I had to take advantage of the FREE (absolutely- no strings attached- FREE) haircuts at JC Penny's. Maeve hates getting her hair cut. I have no clue why, but she completely despises it. Once she's actually in the chair, getting it trimmed, she lightens up, but ooooh baby... don't mention the "c" word to her unless you're up for some drama.
She was super cute with the hair stylist. And for memories sake I must record this conversation:
Hair Stylist: "So Maeve have you been to a real hair salon before?"
Maeve: (completely unimpressed) "Yes. I go to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. That's where I become a princess. You could go and be a princess too probably. But not Jasmine, because that's me."
A HUGE event took place in our house yesterday.... HUGE. We moved Stella's crib into Maeve's room. The girls (the GIRLS!) now share a room. We had a few bumps in the night (no pun intended) but overall, it worked out pretty well. I am so excited for them to experience the joys of bunking with your sis.
I'm not sure why this move has effected me so much, but it has. I was up with some wicked anxiety most of the night. I must have checked on them a hundred times, but all was fine. Maeve woke this morning, excitedly talking about her new roomie. ;)
After my husband made some of the best.pancakes.ever. for breakfast, I set my sights on having a picnic for lunch. There's a beautiful spot over on St. Johns river and sometimes, if you're lucky, you can spot manatees. It's a bit of a hike to get there, but its Sunday. So why not?
My mom, grandma and uncle Tyler ended up coming along too. We skipped packing a picnic basket, and headed straight to the Publix deli. Fried chicken, fruit, chips, cookies and juice boxes were on the menu... :)
