I think I need to do a snack makeover in our house!
Here are Maeve's current snack foods: fruit snacks, yogo bites, gold fish, cheddar rice cakes, granola bars, soy joy bars, an occasional apple or banana- you get the idea. A LOT of processed, greasy, sweet foods. (well besides the Soy Joy bars and rice cakes I guess)
Anyways, I can't get Maeve to eat raw veggies or much fruit- like I said, once in awhile she'll eat a banana or apple but most of the time it will end up on the floor.
What do your kids snack on throughout the day???

Same ol' shiz! All of the same stuff Maeve eats! Griff will eat nanas, apples and raw broccoli though. And lots of yogurt. He does pretty good but his snacking is pretty bad :/ Oh well, he's a kid!
My kids like cheese sticks (I usually get the ones made with 2% milk or low fat), yogurt, no sugar added applesauce cups, jello jigglers (I swear I make them almost every week), or cereal (kix, life, honey nut, etc). Avah really likes carrots and cucumbers with some type of dip. She thinks its fun.
Sorry, these aren't super creative ideas, but they work for us.
yuuup forgot about cheese sticks & cereal- Maeve eats those banana cheerios ALL the time.
Austin eats rice cakes, variety of crackers ( his favorite) bananas, apple sauce, cottage cheese, cheese, raisins, dry cereal, pickles lol, fruit. Again, he will not eat veggies either!! So I have him drink V8 splash.
We are so lucky that Reyna loves her fruits and veggies..have you tried dip with stuff? Cheese sticks are always good, pita chips, hummus? Does she like raisins? You could do ants on a log w/ celery,pb and raisins.
oh yeah she does like pita & hummus- I eat that all the time and she will snack w/ me... I guess I've never really tried giving her other veggies besides carrots and celery- I should try green peppers and cucumbers...
Reyna LOVES cucumbers and green peppers...or try pea pods, brocoli or cauliflower. Also, get the yellow and red peppers...kids always love color!
good ideas ladies!!!
Keith and Heath eat those kinds of things, Ash--that doesn't seem too unhealthy to me....hahahahaa.
(but seriously, my first graders eat wayyy worse at snack time, and i don't have even one remotely fat kid in my class :) --you're good).
oh jeez Mal... :)
I let my kids have one snack that's crackers or something like that and the other snack is fruits or veggies (usually fruit)...
My kids won't eat raw veggies either (except Riley just started eating raw carrots about 2 weeks ago) so I just cook them--hate the extra work, but am glad my kids love veggies. If you ask Riley her favorite food she always says broccoli and carrots :)! She is NOT my child!!
I think as long as she's eating balanced meals that snacks aren't as big of an issue.
