Maeve... and the potty. Part 500?

I can't believe I am even still addressing this issue with Maeve, but potty training- yes, potty training is just not happening like it should.  There is something clearly wrong here.  And both Maeve and I are incredibly frustrated.

Last week we had a "poo poo" party for Maeve because she decided she wanted to poop in the potty.  That lasted one night.  The next day, she was asking for a diaper again.  I decided to cut the diapers cold turkey.  I had been "allowing" her to poop in a diaper, not really pressuring her to poop on the potty a ton.  But the kid is almost 4... its time to poop on the potty.  I'm sure you all can guess what happened when I banned diapers and made her wear panties... eventually yes, she pooped in those.

And just recently, she's been having a ton of pee accidents.  This post was prompted by an accident she just had- I literally JUST put new underwear on her (she pooped in her pants) and five minutes after putting the undies on she called out, "Oh no I peed!"  What in the WORLD?????

I am just at a loss here.  I stay home with them all day.  Meaning, I am here to work with her 24/7.  She gets rewards and tons of praise for going on the potty each and every time.  When she does have accidents, we always keep calm and say something like, "That's okay, next time you need to tell me if you need to poop/pee...etc."   She hates peeing her pants.  That's the thing I don't understand.  She is embarrassed, and wants them changed right away.  After she has an accident, its like her confidence is shot or something?  She will not put undies back on.  All she wants is a diaper.

So this is the cycle we've been going through for months and months now.  I can't imagine it should be this hard.

I started thinking, and it hit me- hard- I realized that she could be having some bladder issues.  I grew up with horrible bladder problems.  I was in and out of the doctors, specialists, hospitals, etc. growing up because I had a problem with having accidents.  It was more of a problem of feeling the need to go vs. not feeling the need to go, and this was caused by never-ending bladder infections.

I made a doctors appointment for her to get checked out.  Of course, I don't want her to have a bladder problem, but it would almost be a relief to have an answer as to why this is just not working.

My Streaking Daughter.

We went to the Toy House tonight, to pay off our layaway and pick up the goods.

Maeve has been wearing undies (diapers to bed & nap) the entire week now.  She's been doing GREAT with peeing... in fact, before tonight, I might have said she was "pee-potty trained."

We were inside for maybe ten minutes, and my daughter comes streaking around the corner- without pants on.  GOD HELP ME.

Here's how it went down:

Me: "Maeve what in the world are you doing?  Dear GOD put your pants back on."

Maeve:  "They're so wet mama."

Me:  "It doesn't matter, you have to wear pants in public."

--- fast forward to a few minutes later- I have her pants on, Maeve, Henry and I are in the car, Ryan's inside grabbing all our packages---

Maeve:  "Mama, I have to go pee pee."

Me:  "Ummm you just went pee pee.  And you don't have pants on.  So you need to hold it.  Do you know what that means?"

Maeve:  "Nope."

cue dribbling water (or pee to be exact).

This was my Thursday night folks! :)  I'm telling ya- have kids, and you will never have a dull moment again! :)

the "BIG" blog post!

Well... to be totally honest, it is BIG NEWS. But probably not what you thought you were coming here to read... no... sadly, we don't know anything about the job yet. Ryan was told he'd hear by Friday. I will update whenever we hear something.

So what is all this BIG news about??? Well let me tell you- its NEWS- for sure. And those of you have been close to us will be super excited to hear that.........

Maeve.... has decided she wants to go "potty" on the POTTY. And she did. This morning.

Yes- I enhanced the pee.

Since this morning, she has had one accident :( and won't poop. BUT a little tinkle on the potty is a start, right???? She is currently wearing a diaper because its nap time- and that would just be plain silly to think that she'd hold it through nap. She'll also be wearing a diaper tonight- its dress rehearsal and we're not even going to come close to risking her having an accident in the costume.

So... yes, that was my big news. Exciting here- I'm sure you all are less than enthused though :)

Maeve Learned A New Trick

Nothing too exciting... but the chick has learned how to take her diaper off.

I came in to get her after a nap a few days ago. She was babbling away and standing BUTT naked at the edge of her crib. At first I just started cracking up because she was a nakie girl!! :) But then I realized that the whole half of the bed was soaked... ugh. Still though, its one of those things that you gotta take pictures of- the day Maeve learned how to take off her dipe :)
